Friday, April 18 is the date to take a hike on the Lakefront starting at the Shedd Aquarium (parking available at various lots, as well as public transportation) - maybe see Spring/Summer flowers and trees blooming at the harbors – to possibly Lincoln Park and return. Start at 10:00, end at 3:00 with a lunch in between. Sign up for this lovely walk/hike to see our glorious lakefront in bloom.

Our journey begins at the Villa Park Historical Society & Museum along the Illinois Prairie Path. From there we will bike to the Great Western Trail on which we return to Villa Park. The full ride is about 22 miles long, but you can shorten the ride by returning on the Prairie Path. Local lunch afterwards.

Greek Islands will be the location for a gathering of LSSC members and friends for a wonderful taverna style dinner in Greek Town. $49.50 includes complete meal, tax and tip. Cash bar from 6:30 to 7:30 is extra. Parking in restaurant lot included – just tip! This is an always popular dinner and an annual tradition.

Please join us to recognize our LSSC volunteers, review the 2024/2025 year of events and learn about our 2025/2026 upcoming spring, summer and future events. Presentation will begin at 7:30. This will be a free event to both members and non-members. Food and Drink will be available to order and pay on your own.

Every year we join the Friends of the Chicago River for its Annual Cleanup Day. Our cleanup location will be Indian Ridge Marsh | Openlands. A restaurant for lunch will be chosen nearby. Register with LSSC first and then with Friends of the Chicago River website.

Bike LaBagh Woods to St. Paul Woods, with optional stop at Sheebah Mandi House on Foster afterwards for lunch. Route is approximately 16 miles and includes stops at architectural properties, park vistas.

The Gathering place for May is the Little Village Thai Café and Restaurant at 2845 N Broadway at Diversey. Vibrant flavors of Thailand are served combining traditional recipes with a contemporary twist. It’s a BYOB. Our limit is 16 attendees.

Join your fellow LSSC members and friends to enjoy the music of the Grant Park Orchestra at their Music Festival Season Opener. Gershwin’s “Rhapsody in Blue” and Falla’s “The Three-Cornered Hat Suite” will make for a delightful evening of music. Come early to share refreshments and conversation. LSSC will have space saved at the Northeast corner of the lawn, our usual area.

Celebrate Juneteenth at the beach in Harbor Country - New Buffalo, MI. Beach games, kayaking, paddle boarding, Sandwiches, snacks, cold drinks provided. Bring a dish to share and your own beverage.

Urban ride, some busy streets. A winding route from Horner Park to Portage Park and the nearby historic bungalow district, with stops to see notable Chicago buildings and neighborhoods. About 15 miles.

Meet at Foster Beach Field House – Foster Ave at Lake Michigan – and bike to Glencoe Beach. Stops include Shakespeare Garden in Evanston and Bah’ai Temple (bathrooms). Bring lunch or eat at a local café. Plan for a leisurely ride 10-12 mph for approximately 32 miles.
