Bike one of the most popular trails in the country—the Elroy-Sparta State Trail in southwestern Wisconsin. This crushed limestone trail follows an abandoned railroad bed 32.5 miles through the WI countryside including three rock tunnels ranging from 1/4 to ¾ miles.

Drive on your own and stay with us at the Park Oasis Inn-Best Western, which is approximately 15 miles from the Elroy trailhead of the bike trail. Enjoy the pool, hot tub, pool table, lounge and restaurant where you will receive a 10% discount on breakfast.

On Saturday we plan to ride the northern half of the bike trail route starting in Wilton.  Riders have the option of riding approximately 46 miles round trip from Wilton to Sparta on this abandoned railroad track, which includes 2 rock tunnels and a lunch break in Sparta. Riders can opt for a shorter distance with a lunch break in Norwalk on the return.

On Sunday we’ll drive to Elroy and ride the southern part of the route—Elroy to Wilton (approximately 38 miles round-trip)—with a lunch break in Wilton.

If you have boundless biking energy, the Elroy-Sparta State Trail also connects to other local trails that you could add on Friday or Sunday, such as La Crosse River State Trail400 State Trail and Mill Bluff State Park.
